Vaughn Hintze dies at Nampa
Vaughn Hintze, 80, of Nampa, died on Thursday, Aug. 19, 1993, at the Nampa hospital. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Aug. 23, 1993, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel. Rev. Kenneth B. Britt officiated. Burial was at Kohlerlawn Cemetery.
Vaughn Hintze was born on Oct. 20, 1912, in Salt Lake City. At an early age he moved to Mackay, Idaho, where he was reared and educated. In 1935 Vaughn graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in agriculture. He married Beth Brennan on June 8, 1935, at Moscow. Following their marriage, Vaughn taught in Idaho Falls, Fruitland, Nampa, and Montana.
In 1948 he started Lone Star Dairy which later became Home Dairies. Vaughn established Gem State Box in 1952 which was later destroyed by fire. The family moved to Yakima, WA in 1958, where he owned and operated another box factory. In 1960 he and his wife started a business known as Von's Floor Covering which they owned and operated until retirement. Upon their return to Nampa in 1982, they built a new home and enjoyed traveling in their fifth-wheel trailer during the winter months. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the summer of 1985. His hobbies included golf, gardening and he was a member and past president of the Edsel Owners Club.
Vaughn is survived by his wife, Beth Hintze, Nampa; two daughters, Bette Childs of San Diego and Barbara Luque of Nampa; a brother, Norman of Jerome; four grandchildren, Craig Childs and Tracy Childs of San Diego, Mollie Luque Cooper of Boise and Jill Luque Hilton of Nampa and four great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by four brothers.
