Following information sent to Shirley Dillingham 03 December 2012:

"Based on information that I have, John Dudley Leland was born on July 8, 1841 and died August 22, 1922. He served as Adjutant, 41st Alabama Infantry, CSA.

The following information furnished October 24, 2019: "Captain John Dudley Leland was the Adjutant of the 41st Alabama Infantry. He was captured at Murfreesboro and sent to Camp Chase in Ohio with Colonel Benjamin Farrar Eddins. He is also found as John Drish Leland. While at Camp Chase the prisoners would count off every morning and the 10th man would be executed. This is from John's article in the "Confederate Veteran" published about 1899.
