FORMER TOWN OF CENTERVILLE WOMAN DIES
After a lingering illness, Mrs. Emilie Schwalbe passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Mathes, New Holstein. Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the farm home near Collins, with burial at St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery.
The deceased nee Emilie Hedrich was born October 29, 1855 at Centerville, and moved with her parents to the town of Rantoul, Calumet County in 1868. In December 1875 she was married to Herman Freund, and three children were born to that union. In November 16, 1879, he died in 1881 she married Fred Schwalbe who succumbed in 1905.
Four daughters, three sons and one brother and sister are the survivors. They are Oscar Freund, this city, A. W. Freund, New Holstein, August Schwalbe, Mrs. B. B. Johnston, Mrs. C. F. Laertz, Milwaukee, Mrs. Arnold March, Reedsville, Mrs. Walter Mathes of New Holstein. The sister, Mrs. Dassler of Centerville and brother, Edwin Hedrick of Potters, with twenty two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren survive.
