Flora Evelena Picker
Mrs. Lena Picker Dies in Hospital
Flora Evelena (Lena) Picker of Vienna was born July 5, 1899 at Vienna, a daughter of Thomas Benton and Sarah Margaret Givens Elrod and died Tuesday, November 3, 1987in the Charles E. Still Hospital, Jefferson City, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Picker had attained the age of 88 years, three months and 29 days.
Mrs. Picker was united in marriage September 7, 1919 at Vienna to Harold Emil Picker, who preceded his wife in death July 2, 1976. To this union three children were born. Lena was also preceded in death by one daughter, Gladys Honse, June 12, 1981; one grandson, Gregory Picker, May 24, 1977; her father September 13, 1926; her mother on May 27, 1929; seven brothers, Jeff, Will, Bob, Boley, Leonard, Charles and Allen Elrod; three sisters, Mrs. Bertie Huckins, Mrs. Hattie Bray and Mrs. Delphia Murphy.
Mrs. Picker was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ, Belle and was a homemaker.
Survivors include: one son Delmer "Bud" Picker of Jefferson City; one daughter, Goldia Picker of Heisinger Home in Jefferson City; one brother Everett Elrod of Vienna; one sister, Mrs. Belvia Whalen of Mexico; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted the following Thursday at the Liberty Church of Christ, Belle, with the Rev. Ted Sewell officiating.
Interment was in the Liberty Cemetery, Belle, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers were Lloyd Honse, Wesley Honse, Gary Honse, Roger Honse, Steven Picker and Billy Hutson. (From contributor, Ellen)
