He was born Feb. 3, 1912, in Pfeifer to Alois "Albert" and Katherine (Meder) Jacobs. He married Sophia (Graf) on Nov. 17, 1936, in Pfeifer. She preceded him in death Jan. 26, 2006. He was a farmer and stockman.
He was a former member of Holy Catholic Church and American and Kansas Hereford associations.
Survivors include three sons, Chesley Jacobs and wife, Adrienne, Spring Valley, Ill., William D. Jacobs and Merle P. Jacobs, both of Pfeifer; a daughter, Jane Silvia, Bellevue, Neb.; a sister, Rose Bahr, Great Bend; and five grandchildren, Karen Silvia, Dan Silvia, Tom Silvia, Jamie Jacobs and Lindsay Jacobs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerome Jacobs and Clement Jacobs; five sisters, Adelheid Jacobs, Frances Jacobs, Pauline Breit, Mary Haberman and Dorothy Dreiling; and a infant brother, Joseph Jacobs.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pfeifer; burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pfeifer. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, both at Cline's Mortuary of Victoria. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Charities Inc., or Masses in care of the mortuary.
