Hickox- Waudell "Copper Knob" Crews, 79, of Hickox died early Friday morning ( February 25, 2011) at his residence after an extended illness.

Born in Charlton Co. his parents were Lonnie B. and Nancy Crews Crews. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Mack Crews and L. C. Crews.

Waudell was a crane operator for Milton J. Woods Construction and a member of Nahunta First Baptist Church. Also he was a member of the Masonic Lodge #391, the Shiner's , the Knights Templar and Walterfield Hunting Club. Waudell loved his family, being at home, working in his garden on his tractor, also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a very unique man and would keep you laughing with his sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lovie Walker Crews of Hickox; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie & Sue Crews of Hickox, Billy & Mary Crews of Crestview, FL and Wiley & Anita Crews of Hickox; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Jason & Lavelle Crews, Alan Crews, Erik & Ashley Crews, Grant Crews, Chris & Angie Crews and Caleb Crews; 5 great grandchildren, Joshua Crews, Faith Crews, Ace, Joshua and Danielle Music; a great great grandchild, Acelyn Music; brother and sister-in-law, John Melton & Josephine Crews of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Eva Horne of Nahunta; a sister-in-law, Margie Crews; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening (February 27, 2011) starting at 6PM at Waudell's residence, 13753 Slab Branch Rd Nahunta, GA 31553.

A funeral service will be held Monday morning (February 28, 2011) at 11AM at Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Edwin Dillard and Rev. Vance Colley officiating. Mr. Crews will lay in state one hour prior to the service.

Burial with Masonic rites will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Hickox.

Pallbearers will be Jason Crews, Alan Crews, Erik Crews, Jeremy Crews, Grant Crews, Chris Crews, Caleb Crews, Josh Crews, Josh Music and Ace Music.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Crews, Johnnie Crews, Bernice Crews, Billy Thomas, Billy Rowell, Michael McManus and Ned Hendrix.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
