"ALTON, Samuel was born in Co. Limerick Ireland Feb 23 1823, and was converted there at an early age. In 1847 he came to Canada, lived 1 year in Goderich, then moved with his mother, brothers and sisters to Wawanosh, where he spent the rest of his life. He married Miss Rachel Webster of Ashfield. He died age 75, survived by his wife and all of his nine children. The funeral was conducted by Rev. E. Olivant of Lucknow, and he was buried in Dungannon Cemetery"
