Macy Ann Bland was born on Oct. 8, 1870 in Bulloch County, Georgia, daughter of James Bland and Rebecca E (Bowen) Bland.

She is the sister of McCrone 'M. G.' (1866); William "W.B." Bird (1868); Susan L (1872); Jincy (1875); Daniel "Donnie" B (1877); Lawrence Allen (1879); Aden B (1881); Elliot B (1883) and Lilly (1885) Bland. She is the half sister of Kidron (1896); James, Jr. (1903) and Gibsey (1906) Bland.

She married Abner B. Byrd. In 1892, they were the parents of a son, Abner Q. Byrd. In 1934, their son died. In 1940, her husband died.

She was a life-long citizen of Bulloch County. She was a member of the Ash Branch Primitive Baptist Church in Bulloch County for over 50 years.

On early Tues. morning, April 17, 1956, Macy Ann Byrd, age 85, passed away in the Bulloch County Hospital, Statesboro, GA, after a long illness. Funeral services were held the next day, on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., at the Brooklet Primitive Baptist Church conducted by Elder Clyde Holland and Elder J. Q. Boyett. Arrangements were with Barnes Funeral Home in Statesboro. Burial was in Brooklet cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.
