Martin L. McGillvary,
87, husband of Mary Reffitt Chandler McGillvary, passed away at 10:00pm Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at the Clark Regional Medical Center.
A native of Piqua, Ohio, he was born on July 7, 1923 to the late Ralph L. And Anna Puterbaugh McGillvary. Martin was a retired warehouse manager, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Nazarene faith.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Kathy (Clay) Shearer of Florida and Linda (Gene) Fitch of Lexington; a son, Jerry (Janet) Chandler of Winchester; 7 grandchildren, Scott and Sara Shearer of FL, Chris Chandler, Cathy Richie and Charlie and Zach Chandler, all of Winchester and Nicky Winter of Lexington; 6 great-grandchildren, Cody, Kayla, C.T., Daniel, Kadence and Addison Chandler; 7 sisters; 5 brothers and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by a son.
Services will be conducted at 1:00pm Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at Scobee Funeral Home by Rev. Lee Cruse and Rev. James Harris. Burial will follow in the Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren and the honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday.
