Merla Mae Baldwin, 97, of Oil Springs, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, at her
residence.

Born Aug. 30, 1913, in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late John Wallace and Virginia Elizabeth Williams Blanton. She was a grocery store clerk and a member of the Grapevine United Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy Hershel Baldwin, in 2009.

Survivors include two sons, James Hershel Baldwin and Wayde Baldwin, both of Oil Springs; three daughters, Emma Katherine Sheppared of Columbus, Ohio, Elizabeth Blanton of Volga and Stella Pierce of Millfield, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 25, at Preston Funeral Home, with Don Baldwin, Frankie Blevins, and Jeff Carroll officiating.

Burial was in Baldwin Cemetery, Oil Springs, under direction of Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
