Ruth was born in Wethersfield, daughter of the late James Elmer Bannon and Prudence (Belden) Bannon. Ruth was a resident of Florida, Wethersfield and summered at Cedar Island, Clinton. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Travelers Insurance Company for 23 years. Ruth was a life member of First Church of Christ, Wethersfield. She was a graduate of Wethersfield High School Class of 1933, excelling in athletics; she was captain of the baseball team, a tennis champion and an avid golfer. She also enjoyed square dancing with her husband. Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Jeannine of Stuart, Fl, Gayle of Weymouth, MA and Marilyn and her husband Barry of Gloucester, MA, a son, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Thomas Fersch and a brother, Mahlon Bannon. The funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family.
