Irene "Granny" Johnson Garner passed from this life Monday, Nov. 5, in Tulsa at 55 years of age. She was born Aug. 2, 1952, in Tahlequah to Bill and Beatrice (Hughes) Johnson. Irene worked for the Cherokee Nation in the Department of Human Services Division for many years. She enjoyed gospel songs and singings and loved her grandkids. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Beatrice (Hughes) Johnson. She leaves behind her daughters, Tammy Keys and Michael Keys, and Tonya Garner and Rick Bailey; her sisters, Lilly Jumper and Ida Drywater; her brothers, Felix Johnson and Bill Johnson Jr.; seven grandchildren, Britteny, Hayley, Erin, Kristen, Derek, Chelsea and Brooke; and numerous extended relatives and friends. Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8, at Reed-Culver Chapel. Burial will follow at Johnson Prairie Cemetery.
