John August Reese was born May 8, 1874, died Sept. 3, 1915, aged 41 years, three months and 27 days. He was born in Adams county, Illinois and came to Borwn [sic] county the spring of 1881. Mr. Reese was united in marriage to Maud May Moore on March 18, 1903. To this union three children were born, one dying in infancy. The family has always resided in Brown county excepting 17 months which were spent in California. Mr. Reese became sick several years ago with organic heart trouble from which he never recovered. He was confined to his bed five weeks before his death. He was christened in the Evangelical church at Quincy, Ill., and lived true to his maker in thought and deed. He leaves a wife, two children, mother and four brothers and four sisters to mourn his loss. A devoted husband and father, respected citizen and kind neighbor has left the world better for having lived.
John Reese died Friday afternoon, Sept. 3, at 1 o'clock at his home 10 miles northeast of White Cloud. He had been ailing for over a year, but was only seriously sick two weeks. He is survived by his wife, two children, four brothers and his mother. The funeral will be held at the home Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Belthuis, of Reserve, will conduct the services. Burial will be made in Mount Hope cemetery.
