Born in Chicago, Mrs. Callaghan resided in Oswego many years. She graduated from Oswego Normal School in elementary education. She taught several years at Charles E. Riley School.
Mrs. Callaghan was a communicant of St. Paul's Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of America, Christian Living Committee, Oswego Classroom Teachers Association and New York State Retired Teachers.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Edward J. "Ted"; three daughters, Ann Allen of Syracuse, Cathy Cunningham of Minetto and Meg Gaffney of Fulton; seven grandchildren; and several cousins.
Services are 8:30 a.m. Monday at Dowdle Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Paul's Church. Burial is in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 154 E. Fourth St., Oswego.
