Jacob Hartbrecht, also known as Franz Jakob Hartbrecht, was born in Germany, the son of Joseph Hartbrecht and Katharina Schuppert. On 19 August 1863, he married Elizabeth Latin in Saint John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Eberbach, Germany. They had five children: Marie, Antonette, Josephine, Ella, and August. In the 1880s, the Hartbrechts came to the United States. Jacob died in 1885 and, other than the grave, we currently have no record of his arrival or stay in this country.
