Marcella was raised in Weathersfield, VT. She attended Mt. Holyoke College becoming a teacher. She reached her Aunt Fanny Bridge (Chilson) Cropsey's home in Will Co, IL, Nov 1, 1853. She taught there a year and met John, a brother of Fanny's husband Jacob. Even though Fanny was called Aunt, they were half sisters. In a letter written July 18, 1900 or 06, Marcella talks about being blind.
