Obituary in The Atlanta Constitution, Feb. 12, 1991: "Mr. Thomas DeRossett Retired Dial executive - Mr. Thomas A. DeRossett, a retired vice president of Dial Corp, died of a stroke Saturday at Northside Hospital. He was 69.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at Sandy Springs Chapel. Another service will be at 3 p.m. at the mausoleum chapel of Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Chattanooga. Burial with full military honors will follow.
Mr. DeRossett was national vice president of customer development for Dial Cprp., the Phoenix-based consumer products manufacturer. He bagan his career with Purex Corp. in 1945 as a salesman and rose to the position of vice president for sales. In 1984 Purex was bought by Dial and Mr. DeRossett was placed in charge of the merged sales divisions, a position he held until his retirement in 1986.
Thomas Allen DeRossett was born April 29, 1921, in Chattanooga, the son of Zack DeRossett and Annie Bischoff DeRossett
He attended the University of Chattanooga and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, participing in the assault on Iwo Jima.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Deakins DeRossett; two sons, Thomas A. DeRossett Jr. of Orange, Calif. and Pagosa, Colo., and Don H. DeRossett of Atlanta; a daughter, T. Renee DeRossett of Newport Beach, Calif.; a sister, Louise Tolleson of Chattanooga; and four grandchildren."
