Born December 21, 1922 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Robert W. and Mary C. Meller Steingreaber. On September 27, 1946 she married Floyd R. Dodge in Burlington. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1983.
Mrs. Dodge attended Hunter School in rural Des Moines County. Prior to her marriage she worked for JC Penney. She then went on to work as secretary/treasurer in the business Mary and her husband Floyd owned, Dodge Masonry Construction.
Mrs. Dodge was an active member of SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church. She helped with the recording of the offertory following Mass and enjoyed being a part of the church's Widow Group. She also was a member of the Burlington Elk's Auxiliary, Burlington Builders Association and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, boating, and bowling. She was an accomplished and avid golfer and was very proud of her hole-in-one she shot at the Burlington County Club.
Survivors include two sons, John C. (Stephanie) Dodge and Joseph R. Dodge, both of Burlington; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Burg and Ruth Pfeffer, both of Burlington, Margaret Ostrom of Tolono, Illinois, and Fran Dunnigan of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Eleanor Mohler; and one brother, Robert Steingreaber.
Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21st in Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends following the reciting of the Rosary at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Lunning Chapel.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Dodge will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 22nd in SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington. The Rev. David Steinle will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Hope Haven, SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church and the Klein Center Activity Fund.
