"REV. HENRY SUTTON
Rev. Henry Sutton died at West Philadelphia on the 22d inst. He was born near Princeton, N. J., on the 20th of July 1808. He entered the ministry and joined the Phhiladelphia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1835. He was an earnest and succesful minister, and devoted himself with enthusiasm to his work. At the commencement of his ministry the Philadelphia Conference included the most of New Jersey and Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. His labors were first in New Jersey, then in Pennsylvania, and for many years on the "Peninsula", where he was pastor of the leading churches, includiing Smyrna, Dover, Centreville, &c. Latterly, on acount of failing health, he was not in charge of any church, but preached occasionally and with great acceptability. His son, W. Henry Sutton, Esq., is a prominent and successful member of the junior bar of Philadelphia."
