Richard P. Westbrook, 69, of 1527 Westbrook Road Ionia, died Monday at Ferguson Hospital, Grand Rapids. He was born Sept 13, 1917 in Ionia Township, the son of Ralph and Nellie M. Sullivan Westbrook.

He graduated from SS.Peter and Paul Academy in 1935. He attended Michigan State University.

He married Maxine R. Rossman on April 12, 1947 at Lakeview.

He owned and operated Dick Westbrook Electric for 30 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ionia and chairman of the finance committee, certified lay minister and active choir member. He was past president of the Ionia Lions Club.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine; four sons, Richard E. Westbrook of Wyoming, Ralph L. Westbrook of Saranac, Scott R. Westbrook of Los Altos, California, and Shawn A. Westbrook of Indianapolis, Indiana; seven grandchildren; one step-daughter, Dawn Slagryn of Newaygo; five sisters, Pauline Yancey of Vlarksville, Tennessee, Frances Bernier of Greenfield, Mass., Ruth Honton of Tuscon, Arizona, and Crystal Julian of East Grand Rapids; one brother, John L. Westbrook of Muir; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Westbrook and Jane Baker.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday ar 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery, with Rev. Keith Bovee officiating.

The family will receive visitors at the Rich Street Chapel of the Montgomery Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 P.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Ionia.
