Nellie Mae Westbrook, 96, died Monday in Greenfield, Mass. She was born in Campbell Township April 10, 1885, the oldest daughter of John Cornelius and Julia Ann Griffin Sullivan.
She attended rural schools and on June 21, 1904, graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Grand Rapids.
She taught four years in Campbell Township schools and two years in Wyoming Township, Kent County.
She was married to Ralph Lee Westbrook in St. Andrew's Cathedral, Grand Rapids, June 21, 1910. They made their home on a farm in Sebewa Township for four years and in April 1914 moved to Ionia Township where she lived until 1948. In 1949 she moved to Hartford, Conn., with a daughter and family and then to Greenfield, Mass., in 1954, where she resided until her death. Her husband died March 2, 1927. Two daughters preceded her in death, Gertrude, who died Dec. 14, 1927, and Jane Baker, who died Aug. 8, 1976.
Surviving are five daughters: Pauline Yancey of Clarksville, Tenn.; Francis Bernier of Greenfield, Mass.; Elizabeth Kittell of Tecumseh, Mich.; Ruth Honton of Tucson, Ariz.; and Crysta Julian of Grand Rapids; and two sons, Richard Westbrook of Ionia and John Westbrook of Muir. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral mass will be at SS. Peter and Paul Church, of which she was a member, Friday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Ionia. The family will be at the funeral home

Ionia- Funeral services for Nellie Westbrook, 96, who died Monday were held Friday from SS. Peter and Paul Church, with the Rev. Henry Dondzila celebrating requiem mass at 2 p.m.
Organist was Mary Cusack. Soloist was Shawn A. Westbrook, accompanied by Richard E. Westbrook.
Pallbearers were Richard E., Ralph L., and Shawn A. Westbrook, Wendell Bernier, Robert Julian, Gregory Julian, Stephen Baker, and Michael Yancy.
Burial was in Mr. Olivet Cemetery.
Following graveside services, the Ladies of SS. Peter and Paul Church served a lunch.
A family prayer service was conducted at Myers-Roetman Funeral Home Prior to church services.
