s/o František and Anna Miléř Foltyn

h/o Teresia Foltin Foltyn

**********************************

Before coming to America my great-grandfather was a laborer (people hired him for work, mostly farm work) He was a citizen of Ratíškovice. . His father was František Foltin/Foltyn (deceased at that time) was a zemědělec in Ratíškovice. zemědělec means farmer in Czech, but the land was not his, he hired the land. They were usually quite poor, the land was more of the size of bigger garden than a field. His mother was alive at the time (my great-grandfather's mother) and her name was Anna neé Miléř - her father was Michal Miléř, also a zemědělec/farmer from Ratíškovice.

He left for America in 1910, leaving his wife and children behind to find a better way of living in America for him and his family. Once he had enough money and an established home he would send for his family to come to America.

In 1921 my grandfather (Frank's son) came to America for only a year, but went back with the money his father made to bring his mother and brother to their new home in America. In 1923 they all finally joined my great-grandfather in their new country and home.
