Logan Nicholson was born 05 June 1828 in Buncombe Co. North Carolina, the 3rd child, and 2nd son of Walter Nicholson 1795/1859 & Dorcus Hogsed 1792/1881. He married Mary Ann (Polly) Woodring 1830/1916 in Blairsville Union Co Ga 18 Feb. 1850. They had (5) children, James Henry, David Leander, Dorcas Minerva, Sarah Ardella,and John Bunyan. As a young boy, Logan moved, with his parents and two other children, to (Union) now Towns Co.Ga. where he grew up and lived the rest of his life on Fodder Creek. When the war of Northern Aggression (Civil War) got underway, Logan at the age of 34 enlisted in the Confederate Army, and served as a Prv. in Co.A 6th Ga. Cal.CSA. In 1863, at the Battle of Leak Springs, near Chickamauga, he received a wound (mini ball)in the left shoulder and was thrown from his horse, which dislocated his shoulder, and rendered his arm essentially useless. He received a Confederate pension in later years..
