Pierre Marie (1803-1866) was born in Cosica, France and migrated to Louisiana before 1844 where he met and married Angelina Thebedaux. They later settled in Port Lavaca, Calhoun county, Texas area after 1860 where he died in 1866 and was removed for burial to Hillside cemetery in Dewitt county and buried next to his wife, and his youngest daughter Josephine Marie-Franke. A number of the MARIE family members are buried in Hillside Cemetery.
He married Angelina Thebedaux- Marie (born in Loiusiana in 1828) and they had 7 known children all born in Louisiana before migrating to Texas:
1) Arcelie D. MARIE-MULTI (1844-1933) who married John Muti (1835-1920)- buried in Hillside Cemetery next to husband.
2) Louise Philomen MARIE-GORMAN (1849-1919) who married
Mr. W. O. Gorman. She died in Handley, Tarrant county, Texas and is buried in Big Sandy (Tarrant Co, Texas)
3) Adelaide MARIE-WALLINGFORD (1849-1933) who married George Wallingford and are buried side-by-side in Hillside Cemetery and near to Adelaide's parents.
4) Ernest MARIE (1854-1934) who married Amelia (maiden name not yet known) before 1930 and they had at least one son Clyde H. MARIE who was 7 months old in the 1880 census (and Clyde H. Marie (1879-1914) is also buried in Hillside Cemetery.
Ernest was listed to be a Barber in Cuero when he died in 1934. Ernest and his widowed sister Almira Marie-Williams were both living with thier sister Arcelie Marie-Muti in the 1930 census in Cuero.
Ernest is buried in Hillside Cemetery in Cuero near other family members.
