Carolyn LaSaint Doss

Jennings: It's with great sadness that the family of Carolyn LaSaint Doss, age 70 of Jennings, announces her passing and ascension onto Heaven. Funeral services will be held at United Methodist Church (located at 702 North Cary Ave. Jennings, LA) on Saturday, February 19, 2011 @ 11:00 AM with Pastor John Whaley officiating. Visitation will be held at church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of her services. Carolyn will be laid to rest in Petterson Cemetery.

Carolyn was born in Jennings to the late Acy and Georgiana Tizeno LaSaint. She was a very well educated and hardworking woman and held many titles throughout her lifetime. She was a certified cosmetologist for 45 years, licensed practical nurse, and certified account clerk. Carolyn earned the profound respect of her fellow employees and clients whom she too held in high regards. However, she was most proud of the titles she held as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and true friend. She was a devoted member of United Methodist Church. Her faith was always strong no matter what obstacles life put in front of her. She was truly an inspiration to so many people. Carolyn leaves behind to cherish her memories are 4 sons, Rudoplh Kately of Lafayette, Lyndon Kately of Houston, Count Kately and wife Traci of Petal, MS, and Henry Paddio of Los Angeles, CA; 2 daughters, Juliette West of Moreno Valley, CA and Dianna Davis and husband Johnny of Delhi, CA; 4 step children, Arthur Kately Jr. of Guam, Bobbie Brookes of Houston, Brenda Kately of Houston, and John Kately of Houston; 1 brother, Acy LaSaint, Jr. of San Francisco, CA; 3 sisters, Donna Thomas of San Francisco, CA, Kathleen LaSaint of San Francisco, CA, and Gwendolyn LaSaint of Jennings; 1 aunt, Lou Ella Mouton of Jennings; and her 28 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Our mother (from her sunrise on August 3, 1940 to her light of paradise on February 9, 2011) carried a song in her heart, which had to have been, "This Little Light of Mine". I say this because she greeted everyone with a smile and a "hallelujah" . When she could no longer speak, still she smiled at those she'd meet. With her condition we may say wow but, I could hear momma say, "hallelujah anyhow". That's why she smiled until the day she said, "Yes Lord, I'll Fly Away".
Carolyn now rests in heaven with her parents, Acy and Georgiana; son, Everette Paddio; brother, Ronald Shakir; sister, Bernetta Dean; and sister-in-law, Verma LaSaint.
