Funeral services for Bernice "Susie" Basham will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Oakley Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. R.G. Davis, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Walker Cemetery.

Bernice "Susie" Basham, 86, of Pollok, was born June 18, 1923 in Timpson, the daughter of the late Hettie (Jordan) and Willie Brown and passed away November 16, 2009 in a local hospital. Mrs. Basham was a member of O'Quinn Baptist Church.

Her survivors include daughters, Venita Knight and George; Doris Stephens and Randy; grandchildren, Rhonda Hope, James McDougald and Rose, Laynell Davis and Larry, Joseph Stephens, Randall Stephens, Tessa Headrick and Joseph, Aaron Knight, Amanda Oliver and Justin; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Pansy Joplin and Robert. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Basham; daughter, Betty Smitherman and Johnie; sister, Daisy McGuire; and brothers, Willie Brown and Dan Brown.

Serving as pallbearers will be James McDougald, Joseph Stephens, Joseph Headrick, Aaron Knight, Justin Oliver and Mark Oliver. Honorary pallbearer will be Randall Stephens.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home. Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home, directors.
