John Eaton WATERS
Sex: M
Birth: 21 OCT 1860 in Iowa
Death: 10 SEP 1950 in Low Gap Cemetary, Newton Cty, AR
MARR: 1878 Newton County, Arkansas

Note:
BIOGRAPHY
About 1893, John E. moved his family to Low Gap where he purchased the
squatter rights of John Munholland who was killed in action during the
Civil War. In 1894, he made homestead entry on a beautiful tract ofbench land at the head of Henson Creek wehre he lived and reared alarge family.
The homesite selected by Mr. Waters, was without a doubt, one of the most perfect tracts of land for general farming and growing of fruit trees and berries. The natural sheltered bench land covered by a mulch of decayed vegetation and leaf mold that had been in the process
of making for several hundred years, produced choice crops and fruits.
After the timber had been removed. A large spring near the housefurnished a good supply of water and a cooling system for milk andbutter. With the many natuarl resources and advantages, John E. soonbecame a successful farmer and stockman. He took much pride in his livestock and was the first to bring to the community the improved chester white hog.
He became one of the best fruit growers in the county and many men living today remember the instructions he gave
them in budding and grafting. He was one of the first agens to represent the Stark Brothers Nurseries in the county and many of the trees he sold are still bearing fruit.
Down thru the years he became a very valuable man to his neighbors and the community in which he lived. He was always willing to lend a
helping hand and to share withthose less fortunate than himslef. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was never known to refuse an opportunity to engage in such sports with a freind.
Being a life long member ofhte masonic Lodge, he enjoyed attending lodge and was very helpful in coaching other brother masons thru the degrees leading up to Master Mason. he was capable of sitting in any chair in the
organization.
I have been told that the day before Mr. Waters died that he confessed and made a complete surrender to his maker...Acts 2:21. "And it shall
come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Luke 16:16. "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." Job 14;14. "If man die, shall he live again?"
