Our beautiful, loving, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend chose to spread her wings and fly home on February 15, 2011.

She was the middle child of five, born January 25, 1924 to Joseph Jenkins and Bessie Pearl Iverson Jenkins in Ephraim, Utah. She attended East High School, graduating in 1942, where she then went on to Westminster College.

Her passion was singing, she won the Salt Lake Civic Music contest one year, and often enjoyed singing at various Sunday services throughout the city.

She married Glen Joseph Scofield on May 29, 1945 in Salt Lake City Utah. They were blessed with their only child, Patricia Anne, while living in Billings, Montana and were thrill-ed to return to Utah in 1956.

Bessie worked as a supervisor at Industrial Supply Company for twenty-six years. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her daughter and her two grandsons.

She loved to travel anywhere and was willing to try anything. She and her daughter enjoyed two weeks this past October traveling through Great Britain. Bessie looked forward to her annual trip traveling to new places creating special memories with Pattie and her family. She was often told she had 'Betty Davis' eyes.
Her family and friends enjoyed her sparkle and wit which she retained throughout her whole life. She would say, "I might wear out, but I won't rust out", which proved true as she remained sharp as a tack to the end. She loved reading, sewing, and parties.

When you count her worth by the number of friends she had, Bessie was a millionaire, she was a joy to be around. She was a member of the Lady of Elks, as well as the LDS Eleventh and Forty-Fifth Ward in Bountiful. She enjoyed her callings as chorister.

Bessie is survived by daughter, Patricia Edwards, (Steve), grandson Brett Latham, sister, Julia Erickson (Ross), brother, Judge Bruce Jenkins (Peggy), numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Glen J. Scofield, grandson, Patrick Wilburn, parents, and her brother, Joseph Alton Jenkins.

The celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, Salt Lake City. Friends may call from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m., services will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be in the Bountiful Memorial Park Cemetery.
