Born Aug. 9, 1929, in Walker, he passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at his residence in Walker. He was a lifelong resident of Livingston Parish and a member of Walker Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the 3rd Infantry Division and was awarded The Purple Heart, Combat Infa'tryman's Badge, U.N. Service Medal and the Korean Government Appreciation Commendation for service. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margie Martin Watson; two sons, Randy Watson and his wife Alisha, Roger Watson Sr. and his wife Lucy; daughter, Pat Durant Palmer; seven grandchildren, Roger "Boo" Watson Jr., Jacob Watson, Christy Watson Jones, Lynn Wisdom, George Bratcher, Jeremy Watson and Randy Lee Watson; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wilma W. Graham, Marion W. Vorell and Myra W. Brock; and brother, Boyd Watson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn Watson; parents, George A. Watson and Ida Milton Watson; brothers, Elliott V. Watson and Roy C. Watson; and sister, Thelma W. Jones. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Jimmy Watson, Gary Watson, Brad Watson, Bo Graham, John Watson, Max Smith and great-grandsons, Garrett Watson and Logan Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Rudolph Watson, George Milton, Ivy Peak, C.C. Cockerham and Jeff Meades. Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Thursday, Feb. 17, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume on Friday, Feb. 18, at Walker Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until funeral services at noon, conducted by Dr. Richard Blue and Chaplain Mike Tippit. Burial will follow in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Services, 3772 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806 or the American Heart Association . The family would like to express a special thank you to Doctor's Hospice, especially Jena, Susan, Ella, Christie and Heather.
