Jesse James Owens, 77, of 934 West Warren Street, Apt. 2G, Shelby, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
Mr. Owens was born in Cleveland County, on September 4, 1933, to the late Clifford Dexter Owens and Essie Mae Johnson Owens. He was a retired truck driver and was a member of Wallace Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son, Harley Dale Owens; two brothers, Bill and Eddie Owens; two sisters, Christine Cline and Lona Mae Craig; two grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Jesse is survived by five daughters, Debbie Melton and husband Rev. Leroy Melton of Shelby, Reda Burns and husband Russell of Clover, SC, Rhonda Smith and husband Danny of Waco, Fonda Grayson of Shelby, and Denise Yancey and husband Billy of Shelby; two brothers Clifford Owens of Boiling Springs and Boyd Owens of Cherryville; two sisters, Martha Owens of Shelby and Lisa Owens of Walnut Cove; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Visitation, 6:00 pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
Funeral Services, 2:00 pm, Thursday, Way of the Cross Free Will Baptist Church.
