HELBY - Cliff Owens, 89, died Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Wendover Hospice. A native of Cleveland Co., he was born to the late Dexter and Essie Mae Johnson Owens. He retired from the Air Force after proudly serving his country. He was a true man of God who was dedicated to his church family and a loving husband and father. He was a longtime member of Shelby Freewill and then Crestview Baptist. For over 28 years he traveled playing gospel music in groups with his guitar. He will be truly missed.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Wayne and Jerry Owens; brothers, Jessie, Boyd, Bill, and Eddie Owens; sisters, Cristine Cline and Lona Mae

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Zula Craig Owens, of the home; son Randy Owens; daughter Gail Ellis, both of Shelby; sisters, Martha Owens of Shelby and Lisa Shelton of Danbury; 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and best friends Leroy and

Wilma Beheler.
