Mr. William Garrison, 82 years of age, passed away at his home of Bomar Heights late Monday night, May 26. He had been in declining health for some time and quite ill for the past two months. The deceased moved to this place from Nebraska a number of years ago and married Mrs. Susan Sinclair, who survives him. He also leaves several children by a former marriage. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a good man with many friends to mourn his passing.

Mr. Garrison was a Civil War veteran, having served in the Federal army. He was a soldier in Company D, 7th Illinois [Cavalry] regiment. His death leaves only eight veterans in the county. Funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock by Rev. Ernest Gold, assisted by Rev. Jesse L. Murrell. The remains were interred in the city cemetery (The Adair County News, Jun 3, 1930).
