James M. Ackerson, an old man 62 years, a resident of Convis, committed suicide yesterday afternoon. He has for several years been afflicted with periodic insanity which assumed the form of mental depression and melancholy, and it was during one of these periods that he took his life. He took a hitching or "rum" strap and throwing it over a pole in the building used to store tools, ect., hung himself. His determination and perseverance is shown by the fact that when found he was in a kneeling posture with his knees nearly touching the floor.
