Miland's mother was Caroline Moon, NOT Thorp, Caroline was raised by John & Olive (Johnson) Thorp after the death of her mother. Caroline was the 6th and last child born to Stephen & Eunice (Saunders) Moon. It is believed that Caroline's mother, Eunice, died at the time of, or shortly after Caroline's birth. Caroline's father, Stephen Moon, was struck in the head by a neighbor in 1830 and as a result, died from his injuries.
