---Mrs. Emma Cook, eighty-five, mother of Mrs. J. Mon Thompson of Kirksville, and Mrs. Joe Billings of La Plata, died Friday afternoon at the Thompson home. Mrs. Cook had been in failing health for some time and ill for the past two years.
---Funeral services were held at 2:00 Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in La Plata. Burial was in the La Plata cemetery.
---Mrs. Cook was born November 11, 1862 in Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Jane Sweedon; when she was eleven years old, she moved with her parents to a farm east of La Plata and had lived most of her life in that area.
---She was united in marriage to John Wesley Cook who preceded her in death in 1918. In recent years Mrs. Cook had made her home with Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Billings.
---She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of La Plata.
---In addition to her two daughters, she is survived by a son, George Cook of Ethel and the following grandchildren: Mrs. Marie O'Conner of Pamona, California, Lloyd Billings of Kansas City and Carl Cook of Ethel. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren. One granddaughter, Terese Thompson, preceded her in death.
