The Belle Banner - June 18, 1931 - J. D. Bishop was born July 17, 1859, died June 8, 1931, age 71 years, 10 months and 21 days. He was a son of Surilda and John Bishop, was born near Vienna and at the time of his death was residing near Cooper Hill. He is survived by his widow, Martha E. Bishop, five daughters, Mrs. W. J. Branson, Dora, Colo., Mrs. Tony Hutchison, Vienna, Mrs. Ernest McCabe, Oregon, Mrs. H. M. McCabe, Seminole, Oklahoma, and Mrs. John Little, Wichita, Kanasa, two sons, John W. of Pharoah, Oklahoma, and Ernest F. of Granite City, Illinois, three brothers, Hy. of St. James, Bunion and Burton of Okimah, Oklahoma, two sisters, Mrs. Richard Copeland of Vienna and Mrs. J. B. Copeland of Argyle. Mr. Bishop was a member of the Christian Church. Funeral services were conducted at the home and at the Methodist Church at Vienna. The body was laid to rest in the Vienna cemetery by the Masonic order. (From contributor, Ellen)
