Ruby Gray O'Mary Merchant was born October 15, 1922 in Lamar County, Alabama. She was the daughter of William Moody O'Mary and Annie Bell (Hood) O'Mary. Ruby Gray married Daniel Bradford Merchant on February 13, 1937 in Vernon, Alabama. Ruby Gray & Bradford had eight children: Lovie Ann, Tommie Lee, Patsy Ruth, Dorothy Sue, Daniel Wayne, Samuel Bradford, William David & Mary Tallulah (Tootsie). Ruby Gray was a devout lady of God, a tireless worker for the Lord and her church. In 1978 she was named Woman of the Year in the Assemblies of God and worked with 12 churches in West Alabama as a volunteer mission leader. She took a 7 day tour of Latin & South America speaking and doing God's work. Mrs. Ruby Gray went to be with Jesus on July 26, 2003. Mrs. Ruby Gray Merchant was an honorary member of the First Assembly of God Church in Sulligent, Alabama where her funeral services were held on July 28, 2003.
