According to The Effingham New Leaf Issue of May 24th, 1901 He had been suffering from consumption for the past year and passed away at his home southwest of Monrovia, leaving behind his wife and his father William Shriver of Vernon, Iowa who had been with him for three days before his death.

William Shrivers* southwest of Monrovia, who had consumption for the past year, passed away Sunday. His father was with him three days before death. His home was in Iowa. He leaves a wife. His remains were interred in the Monrovia cemetery at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon.
*William was the father, Tecumseh was the son.
