SAD DEATH OF YOUNG MOTHER

Mrs. Jake Gerritsen passed away at 5:30 Saturday morning, at her home in Eagle township, just a week following the birth of a baby daughter. Her death was due to an infections sore throat which developed a day or two prior to her death.

Weakened by the ordeal of childbirth, she did not have the necessary vitality to eliminate the poisons from her system caused by the throat condition and her death ensued.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Colenbrander, of Rock Valley, and Rev. Lumkes, of Boyden. Interment was made in the cemetery at Ireton.

Hattie Dolieslager was born October 9, 1901, and spent most of her girlhood in Sioux county, residing for several years with-her parents on a farm northeast of Hawarden. A number of years ago the family moved to Edgerton, Minn.

She was united in marriage on March 20,1924, with Jake Gerritsen, at Ireton, and has since resided on the farm in Eagle township, seven miles northeast of Hawarden. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Gerritsen on May 16th, and the mother's death occurred just one week later. The little babe has been taken to Rock Valley by Mr. Gerritsen's brother, Ira Gerritsen, where she will be cared for.

Mrs. Gerritsen's death occurred on May 23, 1925, at the age of 23 years, 7 months and 14 days. Besides her husband and baby daughter she is survived by a stepson and stepdaughter at home, and her father and five brothers and one sister, at Edgerton, Minn. Her mother preceded her in death just one year ago.

Sincere sympathy goes out to the grief stricken husband and infant daughter, who, will never know the tenderness of a mother's love, and to the other members of her family.

Mr. Gerritsen's first wife met her death in an accident about three and one-half years ago, so it would seem that he has been called upon to bear more than this burden of grief.
