Funeral services were held at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley at 1:30 P.M. August 11 for Jake Gerritsen, 87, of Rock Valley, who died at a Rock Valley nursing home August 8.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Ralph Ten Clay and burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton.
Mr. Gerritsen was born in Orange City, Oct. 17, 1885 and married Henrietta Kleyn February 22, 1927, at Rock Rapids.
They farmed near Rock Valley until retiring and moving into town in 1944.
Survivors include the widow; two sons, Frank of Rock Valley and John of Ellsworth, Minn.; two daughters, Mrs. Teinis (Margaret) De Jong of Rock Valley and Mrs. Tom (Nellie) Milano of El Paso, Tex., and six grandchildren.
