Emily Petersen drowned at her parents home on Upper Deer Creek. She was buried on the hill above the homestead. At one time a white picket fence surrounded the little grave. In 2003 a few boards and plantings could still be seen. Big Timber newspaper reported as follows:
Ida* Petersen, the six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Petersen of Deer Creek was drowned in the stream last Friday evening. The child was playing on a foot bridge which spans the creek near her home and fell off. The body was not recovered until the next day.
