Last rites were conducted Wednesday afternoon, Jan 20, at the Union cemetery in Pomeroy for Mrs. E. McNames, 89, of Fort Dodge. Mrs McNames, a former Pomeroy resident, died Sunday Morning, Jan 17, at the McCaffery Nursing Home in Fort Dodge following a long illness.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in Bruce's Memorial Chapel, the Rev H Milo Hall, pastor of Riverside Methodist church, conducting the rites. Mrs McNames had been a member of that church.
Mrs. McNames is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Hulett of Fort Dodge; on step son, Ira McNames of Fullerton, CA; one step daughter, Mrs Carrie Henderson of Grand Junction; 12 grandchildren; 37 great granchildren; and 13 great great granchildren.
Also surviving are three half brothers and three half-sisters. They are Charles Kirgus of Austin, MN, Wm Kirgus of Osage, Arthur Kirgus of Cuba City, WI, Mrs. Nellie Samlley of Austin, Mrs. Frank Jeffries of Osage and Mrs. Clarence Noss of Waterloo. Preceding Mrs. McNames in death were two daughters, two sons and three brothers.
Mrs McNames was born Jan 22, 1870, at Tama. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Fisher. Her first husband was Welcom Culver.
On July 7, 1921, she was married at Rockwell City to William McNames. Following their marriage they lived at Pomeroy, moving to Fort Dodge in 1930.
