The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Wednesday February 11, 1942

Edgar P. Hitchings, aged 50 died at his residence, 532 Washington Park, yesterday morning at 5 o’clock. He had been in failing health for the past year. He was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk and a son of the late Edgar Alexander and Lelia C. Davis Hitchings. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Hitchings was associated with his brother in the seafood business under the firm name of E.A. Hitchings & Co.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Mitchell Hitchings; two sons, Milton Virginius and Edgar Mitchell Hitchings; a granddaughter, Nancy Ann Hitchings; a brother V.D. Hitchings, and several nieces and nephews, all of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home, 631 Westover Avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. The Rev. Jason L. MacMillan, D.D., pastor of First Presbyterian Church and Rev. Broadus E. Jones, D.D., pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in Elmwood.
