Our father, Marlo Olef Neilson, age 94, returned to the safe keeping of his Heavenly Father, August 20, 2002 at 10:20 a.m. due to causes relating to age. He is greatly missed by his family, friends and relatives. Daddy was a kind, gentle man who lived a generous and compassionate life; he could never refuse the supplications of those needing help or assistance, nor turn away from the array of stray cats and dogs that came to his door, over the years, looking for relief from hunger and cold.
Marlo was born in Clear Creek, Sanpete County, Utah on August 13, 1908 to Royal Christian Neilson and Estella Rose Averett, of Mount Pleasant, Utah. He worked as a bookkeeper and auditor for different companies in Utah, California and Nevada before retiring from the Nevada Industrial Commission, Las Vegas, Nevada as Field Auditing Manager in 1975. Upon his retirement he became a crossing guard for many years at the Jenny P. Stewart Elementary School, Centerville, Utah where he was greatly appreciated and loved. He met and married, Rebecca Norma Hennefer, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were married for 60 years before she died in October 1995. They had three daughters, Norma Marlene (Neil) Blackburn, Estella Carolyn (Rex) Bachman and Dora Elaine (George) Bramlett. Marlo was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Deuel Creek Ward, Centerville, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and twin brother William Arlo Neilson, and a brother one year older, Lynn Averett Neilson. Surviving his departure are his three daughters, seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
