He was born on the farm north of Alton Dec. 13, 1888, son of the pioneer settlers, Mr. and Mrs. E.J.G. Bloemendaal. He was married Feb. 2, 1911, to Annetta De Haan and four children were born to the union, who survive him, together with his wife. They are Margaret (Mrs. Donald Freriks), Alton; Gladys (wife of Pvt. Eugene Mulder, somewhere in England); Myrtle (wife of Lt. James G. Vandenberg, Fort Bliss, Texas); Phyllis Bloemendaal at home. Two grandchildren are Gretchen and Mary Freriks and six brothers and three sisters survive, namely John, Orange City; Ralph, Alton, Mrs. Wm Scholten, Henry, Gerrit, Orange City; Mrs. Wm. Mr. and Mrs. Bloemendaal retired from the farm some 15 years ago on account of his health and he has since driven a tank wagon for the Farmers Coop Oil Co. until compelled to resign on account of ill health. He was widely known and respected, had a legion of friends who sympathize with the family in his early passing at the age of 54.

Funeral services were held at the 2nd Christian Reformed Church Monday at 1:15. Rev Jabaay officiating and large numbers of friends and relatives were present.
