Warren was a son of Thomas Harcum & Charlotte Edwards. He was born in the Franklin area of Southampton Co., VA and died in the Bowers Hill area of Norfolk Co., VA.

There are several listings for Warren in the Civil War records; the 1st entry indicated he enlisted as a Private on 03 May 1861 in Jerusalem, VA at the age of 18.

Warren 1st married Frances Lavenia Cobb with whom he had 10 known children: Orris Wilson "Tony", George W, Laura Della, Linnie, a Female, Nora Neale, Annie Frances, Julius Garrett, Cora Lee & Jesse C. Frances died April 1885 and Jan 12, 1887 Warren married Mary "Mollie" Roshell Simmons, a sister of Warren's daughter-in-law, Rosa Leigh Simmons, the wife of Warren's 1st son Orris Wilson "Tony" Harcum.

Warren and his 2nd wife "Mollie" were the parents of 8 known children: Arthur Hudson "Buddy", Daisy "Sissy" Dean, Raleigh Hinton, Irvin Herbert, Minnie "Auntie" Mae, Robert Lloyd, Bertha "Bert" Bernice and Russell Graham.

Warren is known as "The Beaver" by many of his descendants.

"Warren W. Harcum

The funeral service of Warren W. Harcum, who died last Monday in Bowers Hill, took place there at 1:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Rev. H. M. B. Jones, pastor of the South Street Baptist church, conducted the service. Burial took place in Oak Grove cemetery, this city."

Another obituary reads as follows:

"Warren W. Harcum

Warren W. Harcum died at 12:10 o'clock yesterday morning at his home in Bowers Hill, at the age of 67 years. Besides a widow, Mrs. Mary R. Harcum, he is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. L. R. Brinkley of Bowers Hill, Miss Bertha B. Harcum of Bowers Hill, Mrs. E. R. Ratley of Hampton, Mrs. Laura Whitley of Newsoms, Mrs. Annie Bailey of Newsoms, Mrs. Nora Holland of Franklin and Mrs. Cora Davidson of Franklin; Messrs. A. H., R. L., and R. G. Harcum of Bowers Hill, R. H. Harcum of this city, and I. H. of Baltimore.

The funeral service will take place at 1:30 this afternoon at the residence. Burial will take place in Oak Grove cemetery this city."

Warren was originally buried Oak Grove Cemetery, Portsmouth, VA. According to the records of Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, VA his remains were moved to Forest Lawn Cemetery on December 20, 1949.
