Agnes Schmidt

St. Helena, Neb. - Agnes C. Schmidt, 86, St. Helena, Neb., died Monday (Oct. 22, 1990), at the Yankton Care Center in Yankton.

Funeral services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Helena, Neb., with Msgr. Cyril Werner officiating. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Lyle Schulte, Larry Schulte, Michael Steinberg, Marty Steinberg, Gregory Schmidt and Charles Schmidt.

Visitation is Wednesday from 1-9 p.m. at the Kostel Funeral Home in Yankton with a prayer service at 8 p.m. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service time Thursday.

Mrs. Schmidt was born June 22, 1904, on a farm near St. Helena to John and Minnie (Elfring) Betz. She grew up and lived in the St. Helena area all her life.

She married Henry T. Schmidt June 19, 1923, in St. Helena. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Altar Society, District No. 2 School Board and she was also a census taker for the school.

Survivors include three sons: Melvin L. and Kenneth L. of St. Helena, and Laverl C. of Volin; two daughters: Kleone (Mrs.. Richard Schulte of St. Helena, and Janeane (Mrs. John) Steinberg of Yankton; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Mary Cheney, Watertown; Mrs. Ann Tiedgen, Battle Creek, Neb.; Emma (Mrs. John) Linsley, Reseda, Calif.; and Mrs. Winifred Nickles of Yankton; and one brother, Fred Betz, Sioux City, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Leroy; one daughter, Mary; three brothers: Tony, Willie and Louis, and two sisters, Frances and Rose.
