COLUMBUS, KANSAS: Anita S. Sturgis, age 67, a former used appliance dealer, passed away Dec 27 (sic) [23], 2009 at her home.
Born Aug 5, 1942 (sic) [1948] in Salt Lake City Utah to Jack and LaRue (Fletcher) Stewart, she has lived in Columbus for the past 20 years, moving from Texas.
She had operated used appliance stores in several area cities, including Joplin, MO, Galena, and Columbus, KS. While in Texas, she was a legal secretary at a lawyer's office.
Anita was married to Elmer Glenn Sturgis in 1994 at Miami, OK. He survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Savannah Marie Stewart Sturgis, Baxter Springs, KS and Amey LaRue Sears, Galena, KS; and five grandchildren, Heaven Leigh Flowers, Brittany Shanelle Flowers, Dakota Edward Sears, Zane Ryan Adams, and Amberly Youngblood.
The body has been taken for cremation under the care of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 pm, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in the multipurpose room at Quaker Hill Manor, Lowell, KS.
