Obit:
Tis from him from whom all goodness and mercy flows and who alone can bring to these saddened hearts the comfort of a Saviour`s love. That we turn today as we grieve o`er the sudden passing of this companion, father, brother and friend. Eli Buchanan was a member of a family of 8 children born to Jasper Newton and Frances M. (Warren) Buchanan on Mar. 17, 1886, here he grew up to young manhood. He was an industrious man and always ready to lend a helping hand. He was married to Dora M. McKinney on May 29, 1912. Into their home were 6 children, three of whom, Thelma Mae, Hazel and Paul Franklin died in infancy. Today there remains in sorrow the companion, with whom he traveled the path of life for 42 years, 2 daughters, Mrs. Ethel Chastain of this place, Mrs. Betty Slaten of Indianapolis, Indiana, and one son, Edward, now in the armed forces, serving at Fort Eustis, Virginia, eight grandchildren, one step grandchild and many nieces and nephews who will long remember his passing. He leaves two brothers, Elbert of Paoli, Indiana, Pearl of Orleans, Indiana and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Boyer and Mrs. Harry Monyhan of Paoli, Indiana. His sudden passing came Dec. 06, 1954 at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 19 days and now that this life is closed on earth may we say with the ones mentioned. The blow was hard, the shook severe, We never thought death was so near, Only those who have lost can tell, The pain of parting without farewell. Dear dad, you bade no one a last farewell, you said goodbye to none, a weary heart had ceased to beat, before we knew that you had gone, you shall never be forgotten, neither shall your memory fade, precious memories will always linger around the grave where you are laid.
