Emily Clawson's father Peter Clawson and Isaac B. Clawson's father Garret B. Clawson were brothers. After Peter's wife Eleanor VanVleet died and then his brother Garret B. died, he married his sister in law, Phebe Benedict Clawson, who was Isaac B.'s mother around 1855.
